Palermo mourns Gabriele Guccione: a sport in tears

Gabriele Guccione, honorary president of the Club Canottieri Roggero di Lauria, has passed away at the age of 87. The president, Andrea Vitale, described him as a friend, a teacher, and a brother, emphasizing his invaluable leadership at the Club and in Italian sailing. Guccione was appointed honorary president in 2022, succeeding several other esteemed individuals. Throughout his life, he excelled in dinghy sailing and later in offshore sailing, participating in numerous championships and races. He was also involved in various leadership positions within the sailing community and received several prestigious awards for his contributions to the sport.
