Palermo Court of Auditors: “Turano did not commit any unlawful acts”

The Court of Auditors – jurisdictional section for the Sicilian Region – rejected the request made by the Regional Prosecutor against Mimmo Turano and Patrizia Schifaudo, who asked for their conviction in the administrative responsibility trial for allegedly illegally appointing Gaetano Collura (a third-tier manager) as director general of Irsap. The case dates back to the period when Turano was the Minister for Productive Activities in the Musumeci government and Schifaudo was the coordinator of the technical secretariat. According to the accusation, the appointment of Collura was illegitimate because it should have involved a selection process starting from first and second-tier managers. With today’s ruling, the judges determined that the procedure was correct. The Court of Auditors awarded legal costs in favor of Turano and Schifaudo, charging them to Irsap. The Prosecutor opened an investigation after receiving a report on the alleged irregularity of the appointment procedure.
