Palermo, Assoimpresa: “Too much violence in the city, tourists flee”
Assoimpresa has raised an alarm: “Too much violence, so we scare away tourists”. From street fights in Sferracavallo to the nightlife, with two municipal police officers attacked a few days ago in via dei Chiavettieri, public order is being put to the test. The trade association is concerned that all these incidents could impact tourist flow in the lead-up to the Christmas period. “We are tired of witnessing all this – says Mario Attinasi, president of Assoimpresa – the city is taking steps back in terms of security. Institutions need to intervene concretely because the risk is to push tourists away even in view of the upcoming Christmas holidays. Between drugs, violence, and alcohol, Palermo is becoming a less and less safe city.”
