Palermo Airport in chaos due to storm, Gesap president: extraordinary water bomb.

From 10:30 pm on Saturday, October 19, Palermo’s Falcone Borsellino airport was back in operation after heavy rains flooded the baggage halls. Last night, maximum assistance was given to passengers remaining in the land side area of the terminal. In particular, sandwiches and water bottles were distributed. Maximum assistance was provided to passengers with reduced mobility and families with children. Today, Sunday, October 20, the traffic is reported to be normal. However, it was hours of passion, as president Gesap Salvatore Burrafato recounts in the video. “Since this morning,” he says, “the airport has returned to full operation after a long night of struggle. An extraordinary downpour flooded the technical rooms and caused a blackout that paralyzed the terminal’s activity, requiring the intervention of the fire department and Gesap staff who worked tirelessly all night to restore the operationality of Falcone Borsellino airport. It was five hours of great suffering. In total, 19 flights were canceled or diverted.”
