Palermo: 5-year sentence confirmed for post-night out sexual assault

Stefano Lo Verso has been sentenced to five years in prison for sexual assault. He was arrested by police in September 2022 for abusing a 29-year-old woman he had met in Palermo. The victim was represented by lawyer Mariangela Cicero, who helped her receive immediate financial compensation, with further damages to be determined in a civil case. In addition to his prison sentence, Lo Verso has been banned from holding public office. The victim’s account of the assault was considered credible, supported by medical evidence. The defense plans to appeal the ruling.
