Minì secures first podium of the season, finishing third in F3 Australian GP

First seasonal podium for Gabriele Minì. The nineteen-year-old from Marineo finished third in the Feature Race of the Australian GP in Melbourne. It was definitely a positive weekend for him, placing him in the running for the title, just five points behind the leader.

Swedish driver Dino Beganovic of Prema won the Formula 3 Feature Race in Australia, with Leonardo Fornaroli and Gabriele Minì also on the podium. It was an all-Italian front row in Melbourne, with Fornaroli from Trident taking the first position and Minì from Prema in second place. Both drivers scored points in the Sprint race, which was intense and marked by penalties, with Beganovic and Bedrin (PHM) being penalized.

As the red lights went out, it was a close battle for the lead. After the initial skirmish, Fornaroli took the lead, followed by Minì and Beganovic.

By the twelfth lap, Beganovic received the team’s orders to push and overtook Minì without any obstacles, then went after Fornaroli. Browning also passed the Palermo native. With ten laps to go, Beganovic was leading the race. Montoya was in fifth position, followed by Wurz, Boya, and Bedrin. The top ten were rounded out by Goethe and Mansell. With five laps remaining, Fornaroli made a move on Beganovic. With a lap and a half left, Minì overtook Browning to finish third behind Beganovic and Fornaroli. It was a podium with two Prema drivers and one Trident driver, with the Swedish driver taking the win. Prema’s teamwork brought Beganovic back into title contention, now fourth in the overall standings with 28 points, behind the leading duo of Browning-Fornaroli (37) and his teammate Minì (32).
