In Floridia, a large fire broke out in a warehouse. A tall column of black smoke rose from Corso Giuseppe di Vittorio and then spread: it is visible even several kilometers away. The flames developed in a warehouse of windows and armored doors. According to a first reconstruction, they would have been released in the area of the warehouse and then spread rapidly.
It was some passersby who requested the intervention of the emergency services and shortly after several teams of firefighters from the provincial command of Syracuse arrived: they are trying to contain the flames to prevent further spread. When the alarm was raised, the Carabinieri also arrived on the scene and are already working to understand if it was an arson fire or if it was an accident. The circulation of vehicles in the area is in chaos. The municipal police, to allow rescuers to intervene safely, blocked access to cars and pedestrians in the entire area, diverting traffic.
The air is unbreathable. The mayor of Floridia, Marco Carianni, urges everyone to be careful: “At this moment, personnel from the fire brigade and municipal police of Floridia and Solarino are managing a very serious fire that broke out in the area of Marchesa. For this reason, besides inviting you all to observe the utmost caution, I consider it extremely important to thank those who are working to protect our safety”.
