Mayor of Cerda investigated for procession under boss’s house

The mayor of Cerda, Salvatore Geraci, is under investigation for allegedly threatening the commander of the municipal police in order to prevent changes to the route of a religious procession. The procession was set to pass by the house of Vincenzo Civiletto, who is under house arrest for mafia association. Geraci is accused of pressuring the police commander to write to the police chief to reinstate the traditional route. The investigation also involves other local officials and business owners. The news has caused concern, with calls for Geraci to resign from the anti-mafia commission he serves on.
