Man assaults wife, she records video and posts on social media: arrested in Catania
A 43-year-old man from the province of Catania has been arrested and placed under house arrest, with the obligation to use an electronic bracelet, by the Carabinieri for threats, personal injuries, and domestic abuse in execution of a precautionary measure issued by the judge at the request of the Prosecutor’s Office of Catania.
The Carabinieri intervened after an assault on the wife in their home. The husband had beaten her, and she, to testify to the violence suffered, recorded with her phone and posted on social media a video documenting the injuries sustained in the assault.
The woman managed to alert the Carabinieri who intervened at the couple’s home, finding them there. The Carabinieri removed the man from the house and requested medical assistance for the woman, who did not want to report her husband.
From her statements, it emerged that the man had deprived her of any initiative and freedom due to jealousy, preventing her from seeing her own sisters, leaving the house, and even accompanying the daughters to school, especially in the last four years, with almost daily episodes of physical violence.
The judge in Catania validated the obligation of removal and, accepting the request of the Prosecutor’s Office, issued a precautionary custody order for the suspect under house arrest with the obligation to use an electronic bracelet.
