Magistrates congress commences in Palermo: Standing ovation for Mattarella, one minute of silence for deceased workers.

The 36th congress of the National Association of Magistrates has begun at the Teatro Massimo in Palermo, after the arrival of the President of Italy, Sergio Mattarella. The theme of the congress is “Judiciary and law between impartiality and interpretation.”

There were opening institutional greetings from the mayor Roberto Lagalla, the president of the region Renato Schifani, the president of the Regional Assembly Gaetano Galvagno, and the deputy minister of Justice Francesco Paolo Sisto. Also present were the President of the Senate Ignazio La Russa and the Vice President of the Chamber Giorgio Mulè. The President was welcomed with a standing ovation by all attendees.

Tomorrow, May 11, the Minister of Justice Carlo Nordio will also be in Palermo. Nordio expressed his respect for the judiciary representatives and his support for open and sincere dialogue. Nordio also reflected on his recent meeting with the judiciary union at the ministry, describing it as a frank exchange of ideas.

A minute of silence was observed at the Teatro Massimo in Palermo in memory of the workers who died in Casteldaccia, marking the beginning of the Anm congress.
