Legionella found in plumbing of Palermo Municipal Police headquarters
After five months, the sanitation companies will return to via Ugo La Malfa: at the command of the municipal police of Palermo there is again a red alert for legionella and Commander Angelo Colucciello has decided to close the building from tomorrow (17 October) until the 19th. The officers, as it happened last May, will have to change outside, where chemical toilets provided by civil protection will be set up. The administrative staff, on the other hand, should work from home: in these hours, it is being tried to understand if some bathrooms can still be used. Otherwise, a well-tested protocol will be followed.
The note is from this morning: in the document, the Asp, following the samples taken on 19 September, defines “the general contamination of the water network worsened compared to the previous test report, to be defined as severe”. The Asp also notes that “the headquarters of the command does not effectively allow to visibly check if parts of the pipes or the system have interrupted or obstructed sections, where the bacterium is likely to proliferate”.
In short, the report shows that the command is cyclically at risk and for this reason immediate countermeasures must be taken: Commander Colucciello has already informed that he has contacted a company (Termar 3000) for the installation of a continuous disinfection system for the water system, which should be ready by mid-November.
