“It’s hot, don’t make the horse walk,” animal rights activist attacked by a carriage driver in Palermo.
#Palermo
He interrupted a negotiation between a carriage driver and some tourists and started filming the horse-drawn carriage. A volunteer from an animal rights association was attacked by the owner of the carriage with the horse in Palermo.
The man got off the carriage and approached the volunteer’s car, kicking it and attempting to open the window. Then he spat.
“I had just interrupted a ride negotiation while it was over 38 degrees Celsius,” the volunteer recounts. “I went to the tourists and said in English that it is forbidden to take a carriage ride in this heat. The carriage driver recognized me and immediately tried to attack me. I called the municipal police and reported everything.”
Shortly before, the animal rights association Ada had called the urban guards after filming a horse-drawn carriage with 5 people on board leaving from San Domenico Square. “It’s 38 degrees,” says Ada, “and there is a red level 3 weather alert. The carriage violates the municipal ordinance.”
