Innovative program combining sports, health, and culture returns Sundays to Palermo.
Explain to me briefly the following article
Seven days dedicated to aggregation and sharing experiences, with one of Palermo’s most important green spaces as the backdrop. The city welcomes back the Domenica Favorita, now in its sixth edition with an innovative program: no longer four consecutive Sundays but a whole week, from October 21 to 27. For citizens, it will be an opportunity to participate in activities of all kinds, involving both adults and children: from workshops for the little ones to expert discussions on sustainability, not forgetting spaces dedicated to sports, health, and culture.
At the presentation conference of the event, held at the Pitré Museum in Palermo, among others, the deputy mayor Giampiero Cannella, the municipal councilor for Social Services Rosi Pennino, the founders of the event committee Marco Lampasona and Fabio Corsini and the medical director of Asp Palermo Antonino De Vita participated.
Cannella’s praise for Domenica Favorita is linked to the fact that “it features one of Palermo’s largest urban parks and involves citizens in a beloved place: we foresee a multidisciplinary use with sporting, cultural and recreational activities that involve families. The event is made possible thanks to the synergy between institutions and associations, which make Favorita a place rich in activities”.
Pennino explains how “my relationship with Domenica Favorita goes far beyond my role as councilor: this event is extraordinary on a social level, because it harmonizes citizens with the green spaces of Palermo in such an important area as the Favorita. These are moments that young people need to get to know a part of the city that they wouldn’t otherwise know”.
Lampasona focuses on the organizational innovation compared to previous editions: “The main novelty will be the claim of ‘seven times Sunday’: instead of holding the event only on Sundays, as in previous years, this time we will be operational for a whole week with nine thematic programs, which include health, sports, culture and of course a space reserved for children and families”.
Asp Palermo will also be present, as De Vita explains, “confirming its commitment to the territory, offering services aimed at prevention in all its aspects: we will provide free screenings for cancer prevention, as well as support activities for the control of sexually transmitted diseases”.
