Giarre: Investigations on Two Cars Destroyed by Flames

In the popular neighborhood of the old hospital in Giarre, a deliberately set fire destroyed two cars almost completely. The fire occurred around 5:40 a.m., and residents in the area immediately called the fire brigade due to the strong smell of dense smoke and the explosion of tires. The Carabinieri of the Giarre Company arrived on the scene and obtained surveillance camera footage from nearby businesses. From the footage, it was apparent that a person with a covered face and wearing a helmet poured gasoline on one of the cars, a Fiat Grande Punto, and set it on fire. The flames quickly spread to another car parked behind the Punto, a Ford Fiesta owned by a well-known local actor. The police are analyzing the images to identify the arsonist and determine the motive. The owner of the Fiat Punto, a Romanian mason, is being questioned by the Carabinieri to aid in the investigation. The arsonist had parked a scooter nearby with a bottle of flammable liquid in hand, poured it on the hood of the Punto, and then set it ablaze.
