Former administrator of Sicilia Digitale sentenced to 3 years and 2 months for embezzlement.

The former legal representative of Sicilia Digitale, Carmine Canonico, has been sentenced to 3 years and 2 months in prison, perpetual disqualification from public offices, and perpetual incapacity to contract with the public administration. Canonico, a 75-year-old retired finance guard officer from Monteforte Irpino (Avellino), is accused of improperly reimbursing himself for expenses while in charge of the Regional subsidiary. He has also been ordered to pay back €46,000 by the Court of Auditors. In addition, he must pay damages to Sicilia Digitale and the Sicilian Regional Economy Department.
