Five smartphones found in prison cells in Augusta: relative of inmate reported.

Five mobile phones were found by the prison guards inside the Augusta prison. They would be two simple cell phones and three smartphones. From the initial reconstruction, it emerges that the control took place after a conversation between some inmates and their relatives. It was discovered that one of the inmates had hidden two simple cell phones, attached with tape under the sleeves of his shirt and tied to his arm with a rubber band. The investigations revealed that a relative had provided them to him and once identified, he was reported to the Prosecutor’s Office.

Subsequently, the guards continued their searches and found, in possession of other inmates, three latest generation smartphones. In this case, the phones had been hidden in their respective cells in holes dug inside the walls and covered with a mixture of putty.

This is not the first time that smartphones have been found inside prisons. On March 10th, during a raid by the prison guards inside the Augusta prison, 4 smartphones, a simple cell phone, several SIM cards, chargers, and drugs available to inmates were found and confiscated.

Approximately 30 prison guards took part in the operation, which was the result of intensive intelligence activity by the blue berets, coordinated by the Commander and Vice Commander, along with two non-commissioned officers.
