Five Sicilian boys in Turin to learn how to work in a factory

The professional school Euroform for trades has signed an agreement with Up Design by Umberto Palermo, to host young Sicilian students within its facilities led by Professor Angelo Carollo and the regional manager of mechatronics, Antonio Buccheri.

The Piedmontese company is a reality with a great deal of experience in the search for innovative materials and eco-sustainable proposals, which has led to the foundation of a new reality called Mole Urbana, which aims to review the production processes of means of transport and new electric quadricycles, which are indicated by authoritative experts in the sector as a sustainable response to urban mobility. Up Design, with the brand van-up, is also responsible for modifications and personalized realization of work containers for Piaggio Porter.

Five students, attending the third and fourth year of the mechatronics course at Euroform, have accepted to experience the factory in Orbassano, in the same premises that once housed the former Stola factory, famous for linking its name to Vincenzo Lancia to give rise to the project of sheet metal pressurized structure, which still guarantees safety in the body of every car. The five students are Domenico Pirrone, Davide Pio Picone, Gabriele Lazzara, Tommaso Saltaformaggio, and Francesco Zummo.

During the daily working hours, the students are actively involved in the assembly line for the containers on Piaggio Porter and participate in the creation and realization of electric quadricycles. They are also gaining experience at the Dsd modelli company, where new ideas are born, even the most revolutionary ones that hold the future secrets of car manufacturers.

“This initiative – says Salvatore Licata, president of Euroform – aims to enhance and transform our students into future professionals who are part of the mechatronics training courses. We are pleased to have signed a work-school alternation agreement with Up Design in Turin to offer that added value to the social fabric of our locations in Sicily, also taking advantage of a widespread presence in the territory, to convert simple education into highly performing specialist training, thus increasing job opportunities for our students”.
