Fires in Sciacca prompt evacuation of threatened homes

An intense fire broke out in the afternoon of today (May 25) in the district of Cutrone, on the outskirts of Sciacca. It is a densely populated area, located just a few hundred meters from the municipal cemetery. The flames, fueled by the wind, quickly surrounded several houses in the area, forcing residents to evacuate. Firefighters and personnel from the regional forestry department are on the scene.
