Fire threatens Andromeda Theater in Santo Stefano di Quisquina

A large fire broke out in Santo Stefano di Quisquina, affecting the upper part of the area. Although the flames initially seemed to be under control, the situation worsened in the afternoon, requiring the intervention of Canadair aircraft. The fire also spread to the area where the Andromeda theater is located, a symbol of the Agrigento territory, renowned worldwide and visited by tourists daily. The flames, driven by the scirocco wind, rapidly spread, similar to other areas in the province where firefighting teams, civil protection, and forestry have been deployed. The affected areas include Contrada Petrusa in Agrigento and Bivona, near the Castello dam. Ground crews and a helicopter were deployed to tackle the ongoing emergency.
