Exploited workers in the fields of Paternò, trouble for the “foreman”

The Catania judge ordered a 31-year-old man from Adrano to stay at his home between 3:30 pm and 3 am and to report to the police for allegedly exploiting foreign workers in extreme conditions in agricultural fields. The man admitted that he commits these crimes in order to profit. According to the accusation, he would pick up foreign workers from a temporary camp in Paternò and take them to fields to pick oranges, without proper contracts or permits. The workers reported being subjected to harsh working conditions without safety training or protective equipment. One worker was injured but was convinced by the man to lie to the emergency room doctors about the cause of the injury.
