Erice study on Covid: Spike proteins accelerate clot formation
Sofie Nystrom from Linkoping University in Sweden stated that the spike proteins of the coronavirus accelerate the formation of blood clots that are often not responsive to heparin. Nystrom, leading a research group analyzing synthetic viral protein fragments in the laboratory, revealed that these fragments tend to precipitate in various organs, causing damage to the heart, kidneys, liver, pancreas, and brain. Specifically, the Spike protein was found to accelerate the precipitation of other proteins, such as prion proteins and Amyloid beta. This emphasizes the need to further study the effects of long Covid.
