Eolie ferry carrying waste breaks down: Siremar avoids emergency

The risk of a waste emergency in the Aeolian Islands due to the breakdown of a private authorized ferry has caused concern. The ferry is responsible for transporting waste from the six islands to the landfill in Catania. After the sudden breakdown, extensive meetings were held to find a solution. Eventually, a Siremar ship and a pontoon were used as a temporary solution. However, the current system will be changed as it is deemed unsustainable. Additionally, finding personnel for trash collection in the historic center has been a challenge, but a new hire will begin the service soon.
