Elderly man slips into the sea and hits head on rocks: saved by the police

The Carabinieri of the Ustica station rescued an 85-year-old man who had fallen into the sea after slipping and hitting his head on the rocks. The man’s family immediately alerted authorities through the emergency number 112. The crew of the CC 75-77 boat stationed in Ustica quickly responded and found the man in the water. The Carabinieri dived in and managed to bring him on board. The elderly man received initial medical treatment from the healthcare professionals on board, who stitched up a deep head wound caused by the impact with the rocks. He was then transported by helicopter to the Policlinico hospital in Palermo, where he was admitted. The 85-year-old, who sustained multiple fractures, was later discharged.
