Eight years later, 27 defendants acquitted in Enna City Council’s ‘Gettonopoli’ investigation

After 8 years, the trial of “gettonopoli” in Enna, which saw 27 people on trial, including the current mayor Maurizio Dipietro, concluded with the acquittal of all the accused. The investigation revealed that the accused, including councilors and administrators, had allegedly received attendance fees for participating in municipal committees. Despite video evidence, the trial found that the accusations were not supported by sufficient evidence. Some of the accused had already been acquitted, while others, including former councilors and administrators, expressed relief at the verdict, as the allegations had affected their professional opportunities.
