A driver in Marsala, Italy, has been fined €400 ($475) and had their vehicle seized after dumping a large amount of rubbish on the street. The culprit was identified thanks to footage from surveillance cameras, and the incident has been reported to the local prosecutor’s office, which may pursue criminal charges. The mayor of Marsala, Massimo Grillo, called the act a “total disregard” for the community and the environment, and encouraged citizens to report any similar incidents. Marsala has an environmental surveillance system in place to catch those breaking the rules.
