Donna di Gangi dies after road accident, organs donated
An article about a 52-year-old woman, Antonella Farinella, from Gangi, who died at the Policlinico in Palermo after being hospitalized for a road accident that occurred between Castelbuono and Geraci Siculo last Sunday. Despite being brought to the hospital by emergency services, the woman’s severe injuries proved fatal. Before her death, she had expressed her wish to donate her organs, a decision that was reaffirmed by her family who consented to the donation. Her organs will save four patients awaiting transplants, including her heart, kidneys, liver, and corneas, which were sent to the Eye Bank in Mestre. The Commissioner of the University Hospital, Maria Grazia Furnari, expressed gratitude and solidarity to the donor’s family, emphasizing the importance of organ donation and the crucial role of medical staff in the donation process.
