Domestic tragedy averted in Adrano: Mother threatened with death, son arrested

A 31-year-old man was arrested in Adrano for domestic violence: the carabinieri intervened after the mother, 59, called for help as she had been threatened with death by her son. The woman, who had locked herself in her bedroom, only came out after the arrival of the patrol, and told the carabinieri about her son’s violent reaction after she refused to give him money. The man had reportedly destroyed a vase on the terrace and then a chair in the kitchen before locking himself in his room, threatening to kill anyone who approached, including the carabinieri. Inside his room, the carabinieri found and seized two kitchen knives and a wooden stick with a rubber handle. The judicial authority ordered his custody in prison, pending the identification of a community where he will be placed under house arrest.

The 31-year-old has a poor relationship with his whole family, mother, brother, and sisters. His constant demands for money from his mother often escalate into physical assaults, accompanied by death threats.
