DNA test confirms: body found in Reggio Emilia is that of salesman Impellizzeri from Alcamo

Explain in brief the following article:

The DNA on the remains of the body found on July 11, 2023, buried in the countryside of Castelnovo di Sotto, in the province of Reggio Emilia, belongs to Gaetano Impellizzeri, from Alcamo, a sales agent working in the automotive and household appliance sectors, who went missing on February 10, 2014, at the age of 47. The DNA test confirmed what had already emerged in September 2023.

The investigation into the case is being carried out by the investigative unit of the Carabinieri in Reggio Emilia with the coordination of the public prosecutor’s office. Three people, originally from Messina, are being investigated for murder, presumably committed with a firearm, followed by the concealment of the body. A collaborator of justice, apparently one of the three suspects, provided information that led to the discovery of the body in a garden of a farmhouse. The body was found buried about half a meter deep in a sack.

The investigation revealed that Impellizzeri may have been in financial trouble and was possibly trying to start a new car sales business. The latest news of Impellizzeri dates back to February 10, 2014, when he took a flight from Birgi to Bergamo before disappearing. After a few days, a missing person report was filed. The prosecutor suggested that Impellizzeri had associated with individuals involved in various criminal activities.
