Deaths at Papardo Hospital in Messina, two suspects investigated: inspections for bacteria.

There are two suspects in the investigation by the Prosecutor’s Office into three recent deaths at Papardo hospital, following surgeries in the Cardiothoracic Surgery department. The Gazzetta del Sud online reported. An inspection is currently underway at the operating rooms in the Cardiothoracic Surgery department of Papardo hospital, the post-operative intensive care unit, and the connecting corridors, with prosecutor Anna Maria Arena and the carabinieri present. Technicians from a specialized center in Catania, responsible for the structural and functional verification of the operating rooms, are also at the hospital to inspect for the presence of pathogens. Consultants appointed by the Prosecutor’s Office are conducting autopsies on two patients who recently passed away at Papardo hospital in close succession. The purpose of the inspection is to detect any potentially harmful germs in the healthcare facilities. Various cases are under review, currently three, starting from the seizure of medical records. These include the death of a man over the past weekend and two other individuals, Gaetano Tommaso Bombaci and Maria Dora Biondo, who passed away consecutively. Autopsies have been conducted on Bombaci and Biondo, with medical professionals present. The same team that performed the autopsy on Bombaci on October 3rd. The third victim is Vincenzo Ragusa, 57 years old. Papardo hospital has not issued an official statement at this time.
