De Amicis school in Randazzo wins “Class Writers” contest

Conad awarded this morning, Thursday, March 21st, the 2D class of the secondary school Edmondo De Amicis, one of the winning classes of “Class Writers”, with the story entitled “Fear makes 90”. The project is an integral part of Together for School, Conad’s flagship initiative to support the growth and education of the new generations.

Now in its tenth edition, “Class Writers” had as its theme for this school year “The Magic of Fantasy: Stories and Emotions at the Summer Camp”, and is dedicated to the discovery of a fundamental theme in our lives: emotions. Starting from the 6 basic emotions – happiness, sadness, fear, disgust, anger, and surprise – the young writers have elaborated their stories, accompanied by Harry Potter as an exceptional testimonial.

“We are pleased to support school initiatives like Class Writers in the territories where we operate, because they represent precious opportunities to promote a passion for reading and writing, as well as to stimulate a deep reflection on important themes and understand their perception by the younger generations. Recording, year after year, a wide participation from schools and students confirms the social value of these activities and the importance, for a company like ours, of being present for the entire community and territory” – stated Riccardo Catania, Area Director of Sicily at PAC 2000A Conad.

“I want to extend a special thanks to Conad for giving our students the opportunity to challenge themselves, express their ideas and explore their emotions through this contest. A great incentive for reflection that enriched the educational path of our young people, encouraging them to develop their linguistic and creative skills in a stimulating context,” added Salvatore Malfitana, headmaster of I.C. E. De Amicis.

The project involved almost 30,000 classes belonging to over 5,300 primary and secondary schools across the entire national territory in this edition, which produced and published more than 6,000 stories that entered the final selection ranking. For the first time, this year the classes had the opportunity to create a videostory, a short video starting from one or more drawings made in class consistent with their story, to which a background, audio background, texts, and stickers could be added.

PAC 2000A Conad continues to actively engage in supporting the growth and education of the new generations, spreading fundamental values such as the pleasure of reading and writing, a more dynamic and student-centered approach to teaching, and the importance of cultural growth. An commitment that continues through the national program “Together for School”, dedicated to supporting and fostering the future generations, which has seen the donation since 2012 of 300,000 IT, multimedia equipment and educational materials worth 40 million euros. The winning stories have been published in a book, edited by Salani, entitled “The Magic of Fantasy – Stories and Emotions at the Summer Camp”, which customers can obtain for free.

From April 15th to May 26th, the activity enters a second phase in which for every 20 euros of spending, the Together for School voucher will be distributed, which can be donated to schools to request IT equipment and educational supports for free within the Together for School project, accompanied by 1 sticker useful to participate in the collection of Harry Potter prizes.
