Catania man evades house arrest and attacks ex-wife in public square: arrested

An arrested man, 38 years old, who was under house arrest for domestic violence against his 37-year-old wife, has been arrested in Catania by the Carabinieri after he escaped and attacked the woman in a square in the populous Monte Po neighborhood. The judge, at the request of the Prosecutor, has ordered the replacement of the house arrest measure with the more severe precautionary custody in prison. The man, for acts of physical violence and abuse against his wife dating back to 2022 and also carried out in the presence of their minor daughters, had been subjected to a restraining order in August 2023. Following repeated violations of the obligations, he was placed under house arrest in February 2024.
