Caccamo mourns Myriam, 17-year-old girl: city declares mourning

The news has deeply affected the community: many had believed in a miracle, but in recent hours the news that has thrown everyone into despair has arrived. The girl’s condition has indeed deteriorated and all hope has been extinguished. Mayor Franco Fiore has declared a day of mourning for tomorrow, April 20, when the funeral will be held at 3:00 p.m. at the Church of the Santissima Annunziata.
“The entire citizenship is shaken by the passing of the young Myriam,” wrote Fiore in his ordinance. “Interpreting the collective feeling of sorrow and as a sign of respect and participation, all public events will be suspended and the flags will be lowered to half-mast on all public buildings.”
In the meantime, hundreds of messages of condolences are directed to the girl’s family, all remembering the great courage of the young girl and her tenacity. “You fought with all of yourself,” writes Marzia on social media, “and we believed we could hug you again, do many things together. What an unfair life, what an unacceptable reality. There are no words to explain to you and your parents what each of us here in Caccamo is going through.”
