Bisacquino, the white night is back: featuring the onion and olive oil.
#Palermo
A day of celebration, focused on tradition, genuine food, but also culture and music. The onion and olive oil will once again be the stars of Bisacquino’s summer night in 2023 with an event that has attracted an average of 6-7,000 people in previous editions. On Saturday, August 19th, in via Decano Don Calogero di Vincenti, there will be a market, with artisans exhibiting their creations and local merchants showcasing typical products of the area. There will be tasting sessions with the two local specialties: the Bisacquino onion and the precious olive oil produced from Biancolilla and Nocellara olives.
At 5:30 pm, the civic museum will open to the public for guided tours, featuring a workshop on the Bisacquino onion. At 10 pm, in via Decano di Vincenti, there will be a tribute to Renzo Arbore with a concert by the Luna Rossa orchestra. At the same time, the Liscio 2000 show will entertain lovers of folk music and dancing. There will also be space for children with “Bisacquilandia,” an inclusive park that will open its doors at 9 pm. This park will offer games for children and animated storytelling moments. Bisacquino’s night will continue after midnight with an open-air disco, featuring DJ and vocalist Walter Pizzulli from “Morning Show” and DJ Agopil8.
“I organized the White Night and Festival of Onion and Olive Oil for the first time in August 2012,” says Mayor Tommaso Di Giorgio. “Year after year, it has become one of the most important events in Bisacquino and the region because it successfully combines cultural moments, games, monument visits, shows, and tastings of local specialties such as the Bisacquino onion and olive oil, which are excellences. Edition after edition,” adds the mayor of Bisacquino, “it has grown both in terms of quality and attendance. Last year, thanks to the collaboration of all our cultural associations such as the pro-loco, the youth council, and CineCulturArt, it reached incredible numbers. They are also providing important help this year to make the event even more interesting. I invite everyone, especially those who have never come, to participate. You will discover a village rich in monuments, history, traditions, and welcoming people.”
