Barrafranca, 7 precautionary measures issued for trading jewelry and Universal Basic Income for drugs

Seven individuals have been arrested by the carabinieri for their involvement in illegal drug trafficking, receiving stolen goods, and arson. The arrest warrants were issued by the judge at the Court of Caltanissetta, following the request of the District Anti-Mafia Prosecutor’s Office. One person is under house arrest, four are in prison, and two have been banned from residing in the Enna province. The investigation revealed that the suspects were part of a drug trafficking group operating in the Barrafranca area. During the operation, weapons, drugs, and a marijuana plantation were also seized. The organization allegedly sourced drugs from Catania and accepted various items, including stolen vehicles and jewelry, as collateral from customers who owed them money. They also used prepaid debit cards where their income from government welfare benefits was deposited.
