Arson attacks in Partinico and Cefalù, incendiary devices found: investigations ongoing

The two fires that broke out in the province of Palermo, in Partinico and Cefalù, destroying hectares of Mediterranean scrubland, were intentional. Firefighters, forestry officials, civil protection and aerial resources intervened as homes and farms were threatened.

The flames were extinguished after hours: the heat and the scirocco wind fueled the fires, which were allegedly started in different points. Several ignitions were discovered and investigations are underway to identify the perpetrators of the fires.

A similar situation occurred a few days ago in Partinico, as well as in Balestrate and Carini: ignitions were also found in those cases, and investigations have been opened to identify those responsible for the fires.
