Anas lacks funds for payments, causing delays for businesses: Schifani promises action
There is a problem of delays in payments from Anas to the companies working on numerous construction sites in Sicily and elsewhere. The issue was reported this morning to the President of the Sicilian Region, Renato Schifani, extraordinary commissioner for the A19 highway, during the reopening ceremony of a section of the Palermo-Catania highway, by the owner of the company that carried out the works.
“The category of companies is worried – the entrepreneur said, addressing Schifani – because if the largest contracting station in Italy has a liquidity problem at a particularly important time for investments, this represents a critical element. It is not only a problem of the Sicilian compartment but of the entire country’s system.”
“The problem at the moment – explained engineer Lelio Russo, sub-commissioner for the A19 – is that we do not have funds, because we have spent all the money they gave us. Therefore, there is a need for additional liquidity to be injected into Anas’ coffers to proceed with payments. We have written two letters to the Ministry of Economy and Finance but still have not received a response. There are arrears that companies are accumulating.”
“I will certainly take charge of this issue that you are reporting to me,” assured President Schifani.
