All about Serie B play-offs: what you need to know

The dates were already known, now Lega B has also officially confirmed the times of the play-off matches, from which the third team promoted to Serie A will emerge, after Parma and one between Como and Venezia. All matches will be played at night, at 8.30pm, starting from the matches that will kick off these play-offs. The first round, the preliminary one, will see all the teams that finished the regular season from fifth to eighth place, including Palermo which based on how the last day will go can qualify from sixth to eighth place.

It starts on Friday 17 with the match between the 6th placed team and the 7th, then the next day the match between the 5th (Catanzaro) and the 8th. On Monday 20 and Tuesday 21 it will be time for the first leg matches of the semi-finals, where the third and fourth in the standings will also take to the field, namely Cremonese and one from Como or Venezia. The return matches, at home for the teams that finished in third and fourth place, are instead scheduled for the 24th and 25th. The finals, finally, on the 30th and 2nd of June, with the first leg on the pitch of the team with the worst placement. Only in the preliminary round in case of a draw will extra time be played, but penalties are not foreseen. In case of further equality, the better placed team will advance. In the semi-final and final, instead, in case of a draw, extra time will not be played but the team with the best placement in the regular season will qualify.
