Alcamo man sentenced to 11 years for sexually abusing adopted daughter

Sexual violence and abuse within a family towards an adopted daughter. For these crimes, a police officer, who was then serving at the public security station in Alcamo, was sentenced to eleven years in prison by the judges of the court of Trapani. His wife, a housewife from Alcamo, was sentenced to four years for abuse. The wife was also accused of extortion. The defense lawyers Mario Vitiello for the suspended police officer, and Anna Maria Benenati for the wife, have already filed an appeal. The arrest of the police officer in September 2020 caused a lot of uproar not only in Alcamo. The man has been in prison since then, despite appeals filed by his lawyer Mario Vitiello.

The shameful story came to light after the adopted daughter reported it to the Carabinieri of Balestrate. A few days later, after a quick investigation, the police officer, who was serving at the Alcamo station, was arrested. The events recounted by the girl reportedly began over ten years ago when she, still a minor, became a part of that family. The young girl also mentioned numerous family resentments, jealousies, and envies especially towards the natural children of the couple. The girl described in her report of groping, explicit invitations to engage in sexual acts, vulgar language over a long period of time. These accusations were later confirmed in court by the girl. According to the prosecution, what incriminated the adoptive father were explicit and lengthy WhatsApp conversations. Despite numerous explicit messages sent by the father to the daughter in the chat, she never responded. After some time, the decision was made to report the incident to the Carabinieri station in Balestrate. During the trial, several experts were also heard, from the one who transcribed the phone interceptions between the father and daughter, to the psychologists who assisted in the examination of the victim.
