Bronte festival fines bar without HACCP manual €2000
The Carabinieri of Bronte, together with colleagues from the Anti-Sophistication Unit (Nas) of Catania, inspected stands and commercial activities during the pistachio festival, which took place in the first two weekends of October in the center of Bronte. The event, organized along Corso Umberto between Piazza Piave and Piazza Spedaleri, featured numerous food stands, as well as restaurants, ice cream shops, and bars already active in the area, attracting thousands of visitors.
Along the main street, the Carabinieri inspected a bar owned by a seventy-eight-year-old resident of Maniace, which was found to be lacking the HACCP self-control manual, essential for preventing food risks. The absence of the manual resulted in a fine of 2,000 euros for the owner for “failure to implement self-control procedures related to the HACCP system.”
