Capture of Bernardo Provenzano: Two army generals accused of obstruction of justice before judge
The preliminary hearing of former carabinieri generals Angiolo Pellegrini, 82 years old, and Alberto Tersigni, retired, accused of obstruction of justice, will take place tomorrow in front of the judge Graziella Luparello in Caltanissetta. The two military officers, who were part of the Dia for a long time, are accused of hindering the investigation by the prosecutor’s office into the statements made by the pentito Pietro Riggio, a former prison police officer who was later arrested for alleged ties to mafia clans. Pellegrini and Tersigni managed the collaborator of justice in the early 2000s, but many prosecutors have doubts about his credibility. According to the accusation, they did not give due importance to Riggio’s revelations, which, according to the investigators, could have led to the capture of the then fugitive Bernardo Provenzano and to information about a plot to attack former anti-mafia judge Leonardo Guarnotta.
