Security guard attacked at Palermo’s Cervello Hospital emergency room: man demanded immediate entry into triage.
A security guard was attacked last night at the Cervello Hospital in Palermo. The incident occurred in the emergency room after a man, who had been taken in for an allergic reaction, demanded to enter the triage area, which was already full.
At that point, the security guard tried to stop him from coming into contact with the medical staff. The man became furious and punched the guard, also attempting to hit him with a IV pole. The security guard was assisted and received a 25-day medical leave.
The unions Fials, Cisl, and Nursing Up, represented by Antonino Ruvolo, Giovanni Cucchiara, Ferdinando Scimone, Michele D’Angelo, and Gioacchino Zarbo, express their solidarity with the security guard and healthcare workers, and do not exclude the possibility of protests to raise awareness about the issue of respecting healthcare workers and preventing violence in hospitals.
