Forest worker flies off viaduct in off-road vehicle, one dead and two injured in Tortorici
An forestry worker died and two others were injured in a road accident that occurred on Via Roma, in Tortorici, a municipality in the Nebrodi area of Messina province. The three were in a service SUV that, for reasons still being investigated, fell off a viaduct.
The road where the accident took place was dry, with rain only falling in the early hours of the morning. One of the injured was taken by ambulance to the hospital in Sant’Agata di Militello, while the other, in more serious condition, was extracted from the wreckage and airlifted by the 118 helicopter to the Policlinico in Messina.
The Messina fire brigade, a team from Sant’Agata Militello, and a crane from the headquarters were all called to the scene for vehicle recovery. The causes of the accident are still under investigation.
