Regalbuto WWII bomb exploded

Explain the following article briefly:

A 113-kilogram aerial bomb, with 54 kilograms of explosives dating back to the last world war, was detonated in the Freschia area in Regalbuto. The operations, coordinated by the Prefecture of Enna, were carried out by the State Police together with the army’s bomb disposal unit and other police forces, and prepared by personnel from the fourth engineer sabotage regiment in Palermo. To ensure the maximum safety of the activity, the residents of the area were evacuated from their homes within a radius of about 360 meters from the blast chamber built by the military.

The State Police, within a base camp located in the municipality of Regalbuto, coordinated the safety operations at the site, setting up six road barriers to close off the access. A medical coordination center was also set up for the occasion. Due to the poor condition of the bomb, the military neutralized the device on site and then transported it to a quarry in the municipality of Agira for final clearance. To comply with safety standards, remote robotic systems were used for the operation. In 2024, the Army cleared 308 unexploded ordnances throughout Sicily.
