Two young people reported for keeping seven dogs in dilapidated boxes with carcasses of other animals in Palazzolo Acreide
They were keeping 7 molossoid dogs in poor hygienic and sanitary conditions in dilapidated boxes, with carcasses of other animals. Among them was also a turtle belonging to a protected species. The carabinieri of Palazzolo Acreide, with the carabinieri of the eliportato cacciatori Sicilia squadron, the Cites Nucleus of Catania, Asp personnel, technicians from the municipality and Enel, carried out a series of checks in the historic center and reported a 21-year-old and a 19-year-old for theft of electricity by direct connection to the public network, mistreatment of animals, and illegal possession of a protected species. The two young men were illegally occupying some properties. In the relevant grounds were found scraps of mopeds of likely illicit origin, on which investigations are ongoing. The dogs were seized. The turtle was transferred to a facility managed by the forest carabinieri of Catania and will soon be reintroduced into nature.
