Peculation and forgery, preliminary hearing set for November 6th for Miccichè
The preliminary hearing for the case against former president of the Sicilian Regional Assembly Gianfranco Miccichè and his driver Maurizio Messina has been set for November 6th. They are accused of embezzlement and fraud, for using the official car assigned to Miccichè for personal purposes. Messina allegedly received overtime pay and allowances totaling over 10,000 euros for non-institutional trips that the prosecutors claim were false. The investigation was led by prosecutor Claudia Ferrari and deputy prosecutor Paolo Guido. Some of the non-institutional uses of the car included taking the cat to the vet and allegedly buying cocaine for Miccichè’s personal use. Miccichè, a former member of Forza Italia and currently part of the Movement for the Autonomy of the former President of the Region Raffaele Lombardo.
