Caronte & Tourist presents sustainability balance sheet 2023 with increased staff and revenue
The Caronte & Tourist Group has presented its 2023 Sustainability Report, a document that outlines in detail the company’s commitment to sustainable development, environmental protection, service improvement, and social inclusion policies.
The presentation, held at the Salone delle Bandiere of the Municipality of Messina, was attended by various authorities, including the Mayor of Messina Federico Basile. A significant growth: more employees and higher turnover. 2023 marked a year of growth for the Group, which saw an increase in the number of employees and turnover.
Today, the company has 1,229 employees and a fleet of 29 ships, which have transported over 6.5 million passengers, 2.3 million cars, and 700,000 commercial vehicles. With 700,000 miles sailed and 15 connected islands, the Group is one of the leading operators in the maritime sector in Italy, with a turnover of 244 million euros, ranking it second among the largest private contributors in Sicily. During the presentation, the Group’s CEO, Pietro Franza, explained how the company has adopted an innovative business model based on customer experience.
“We have chosen an approach that allows us to continuously improve our services thanks to customer feedback,” Franza explained. The quality of service is monitored through a series of strategic indicators related to the regularity and punctuality of services, safety conditions, and travel comfort. In 2023, the Group was able to guarantee service regularity in 97% of cases.
