Final tribute to Father Ribaudo, Lorefice at packed San Giuseppe church: “He saw the world as God does”
Explain in brief the following article:
“A packed church and lots of emotion on the day of the final farewell to Father Giacomo Ribaudo. Hundreds of faithful, as well as many priests and deacons, attended the funeral of the pastor, who died three days ago after an illness at the age of 80, which took place in the church of San Giuseppe in Villabate. Father Giacomino was surrounded by so much affection and gratitude until the end. In the front row were his sister, nephews, and other relatives, but everyone who shared a part of life with Father Ribaudo came to say their last goodbye.
The mass was officiated by Monsignor Corrado Lorefice. Also present was the Archbishop Emeritus of Moreale, Salvatore Di Cristina, the mayor of Villabate, Gaetano Di Chiara, the deputy mayor Giampiero Cannella, and other representatives of the local institutions. There was profound silence and great attention during Monsignor Lorefice’s homily.
“Father Giacomino’s gaze is that of a disciple-priest with a gaze from above, of a child, of a poor person,” the archbishop stated. “I believe it can clearly be affirmed that his life recognized and confessed the only ‘Good.’ And that he walked the only way to enter the Kingdom.”
A true vocational animator. This is how the archbishop describes Father Ribaudo. “He looked at and wanted the world as God sees and wants it. He assumed God’s gaze on the history of men,” Lorefice continued. “The concrete history that is lived with men and women who walk the streets of the world, with those whom the Church entrusts to the care of ordained ministers. And he called others to have God’s gaze on the world.” Father Ribaudo was buried in the cemetery of Marineo, his hometown.
