Traffic nightmare on Palermo – Catania highway, 10 km tailback: two hours to pass through construction sites
Sunday was a day of suffering for motorists leaving Palermo. Due to two construction sites opened by Anas between Casteldaccia and Altavilla Milicia and between Trabia and Termini Imerese, more than ten kilometers of traffic jams formed for those leaving the capital. To get through the narrow lanes, motorists took about an hour and a half. Cars lined up from the highway entrance all the way to the narrowing for the renovation of part of a viaduct. “The construction sites were not communicated by Anas,” says a driver. “It is unclear how long they will last. There are always works on this stretch of highway. First at the Termini Imerese junction and now this bottleneck at Casteldaccia that makes life impossible for commuters and those who decide to spend a Sunday organizing a trip out of town that is spent in traffic for over two hours.”
