Trapani Birgi airport, check-in area revamped in restyling effort

Another phase of the larger restyling project at Vincenzo Florio airport in Trapani Birgi has been completed. Salvatore Ombra, president of Airgest, the airport management company, highlighted the addition of color and modernity to the check-in desks and ecological area, making them not only more functional but also more pleasant to look at. The check-in desks now feature a new wrapping technique using a simple covering film, while the ecological area has been completely renovated with new graphics to make the airport cleaner and more eco-friendly. Future plans include building a new bus shelter and improving waiting areas and traffic flow within the airport. These improvements aim to make Trapani Birgi airport more modern, efficient, and welcoming for passengers. The airport’s infrastructure and technology upgrade program started about four years ago, with the Italian Air Force as the client due to the airport’s dual military-civilian nature. The airport covers a 500-hectare area, with a main runway of 2,695 meters and parking space for up to 9 aircraft on a 64,900 square meter apron. Airgest also performed maintenance on the runway during the recent lighting modernization project, including rubber deposit removal and requalifying horizontal signage. Future projects, funded by the Development and Cohesion Fund with 13 million euros, will overhaul the entire airport.
