46 migrants arrive on a boat from Libya to Lampedusa

46 migrants from Egypt, Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Syria arrived in Lampedusa overnight. The boat, which had departed from Zuara in Libya, was intercepted by a Coast Guard vessel. The migrants underwent a medical check and were taken to the contrada Imbriacola hotspot where 125 guests are currently staying. Yesterday, on the orders of the Prefecture of Agrigento, a total of 440 people were transferred: 180 to Rome and 260 to Porto Empedocle. Additionally, a Tunisian man fell ill with an asthma attack while on the ferry to Porto Empedocle and was taken to a clinic by ambulance. Finally, 63 migrants, including 19 unaccompanied minors, will be transferred from the Lampedusa hotspot to Porto Empedocle on the Sansovino ferry. The remaining 62 people, including two unaccompanied minors, will remain at the contrada Imbriacola facility.
